Imagine this~ You're lying on a hammock, somewhere tropical, without a care in the world. No worries, no stress, nothing but love and relaxation. Sounds like a dream, right?
Hammock Day celebrated on July 22nd is a true blessing, giving us all a chance to kick back, relax, and just hang. Nothing says ultimate relaxation like spending some down time to reflect and self-love, or surrounding yourself with those you love. Although we all love Hammocks, this special day doesn't have to involve a hammock to be celebrated, as long as you are relaxing you are honoring this day.
Here are some tips on how to find your inner zen this Hammock Day!
Take some deep breaths
With the chaos of everyday life sometimes we need to just stop what we are doing and focus on our breathing. Although this act is so simple, it can have a positive effect on the rest of your day. Not only does taking deep breathes physically slow your heart rate calming you down, but it allows you to clear your mind from clutter. Learning how to quiet your mind and focus on your breathing can be a beneficial skill when life's pressures become a little too much. The amazing thing about learning how to slow your breathing is that it can be done anywhere at any time, so stop what you're doing right now and take a few minutes to just breathe and let go. "To be mindful," means to be aware of something. But what does mindfulness meditation really mean? Well, its something we do in everyday life whether we realize it or not. When you become aware of your senses you are practicing mindful meditation. Practicing mindful meditation trains your brain to become aware of what you're doing instead of living in auto-pilot mode. This leads to happy mind, making a happier YOU! Taking a few moments everyday to just observe the moment as it is. Here are six mindfulness techniques you can try today.
Start your morning off right
As crazy it may sound, what you do in the morning can set the tone for the entire day. I suggest occasionally waking up a little earlier than usual to take some time to meditate, work out, journal, make some tea, or do whatever it is that pleases you. My morning routine often involves waking up a little extra early to heat up some warm water with lemon and write out a to-do list for that entire day. You would be surprised how beneficial this can be!
Discover your perfect night time routine
Having routine in your life is a must. Stability leads to balance, comfort, and a renewed sense of energy! Having a night time routine gives you a designated time to reflect on your day and evaluate whether all of your needs are being met. We live in a world where people are constantly working to please others, but it is no crime to take the time to focus on yourself. Some ways to do this could include unwinding with a good movie or book at the end of the day, making some sleepy time tea, or listening to some relaxing music. Another idea could be to:
Soak in a warm shower or bath
You don't have to go to the spa to have a luxurious bath experience. You can turn your very own bathroom into that relaxing atmosphere you have been dreaming of. Light some candles and grab your favorite essential oils. When trying to de-stress at the end of the day my favorite scent to use is lavender. It has a natural way healing the mind. Set the mood even further with a glass of wine or cup of tea, soft music, and low lighting and you're set for finding your inner zen.
Enjoy your special day to Relax. Taylor x
